Vol. 93 No. 14

Ceisteanna.—Questions. Oral Answers. - Tea and Sugar Allowances for Fishermen.

asked the Minister for Supplies why an extra allowance of tea and sugar is not being given, as has been given in other years, to fishermen engaged on the River Slaney.

The concession of extra allowances of tea and sugar to fishermen is confined to cases where the men, in pursuit of their occupation, have to spend long periods on board their boats of not less than eight hours duration in one stretch. On investigation it was found that these conditions were not present in the case of the fishermen on the River Slaney and it was found necessary to withdraw the extra allowance of tea and sugar which had been made in that case.
