Vol. 94 No. 10

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Treatment of Mental Disorders.

asked the Minister for Local Government and Public Health whether his attention has been drawn by medical authorities to the need for clinics at which persons might voluntarily attend to receive treatment from trained psychiatrists for mental disorders; and, further, whether he will consider making provision whereby such persons may, if they so desire, voluntarily enter a mental hospital for treatment without having been previously certified.

I am aware of the need for the provision of psychiatric clinics. Provision therefore, as well as for the admission of voluntary patients to mental institutions, will be made in forthcoming legislation.
