Vol. 95 No. 5

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - County Meath Estate.

asked the Minister for Lands if he will state what is the delay in dispossessing the tenants of the Thunder estate at Lagore, near Dunshaughlin, County Meath, who failed to occupy their new houses, which have been many years built, and many of which are in a disgraceful condition of repair; and if he is aware that many of these tenants are occupying labourers' cottages and causing an acute shortage of houses in that area.

The question appears to refer to the Rogers estate, Record No. S.7602, at Lagore Big, Dunshaughlin, County Meath. The Land Commission are aware that five of the allottees for whom dwelling-houses were erected on the parcels of land allotted to them on this estate have failed to take up residence in their new dwelling-houses and that certain of these allottees are at present in occupation of Board of Health cottages. Warnings have been issued to the five unsatisfactory allottees and the question of instituting proceedings for the recovery of possession of the parcels allotted to them is under consideration.
