Vol. 95 No. 11

Ceisteanna.—Questions. Oral Answers. - Films of War Scenes.

asked the Minister for Justice if he is aware that film shows of war events are being given in various unlicensed halls throughout Dublin and that admission charges are being made in respect of them, and if he will state if any prosecutions for the evasion of licensing have been instituted or are being contemplated.

Mr. Boland

I am aware that showings of war films have been given in unlicensed halls in Dublin. Whether such showings are a breach of the law depends on the circumstances, as for instance, whether the general public are admitted and whether the films used are of inflammable material. I am not satisfied that in any of the cases to which my attention has been drawn the circumstances are such as to justify prosecution.
