Vol. 95 No. 17

Ceisteanna.—Questions. Oral Answers. - Callan Town Commissioners.

asked the Minister for Local Government and Public Health if he is aware that the county manager acting for the Callan Town Commissioners holds all meetings of the said commissioners at Kilkenny, a distance of 10 miles from Callan; and, if so, if he will ensure that the county manager holds quarterly meetings at Callan to enable local ratepayers to attend such meetings as is their right and lay their views, when necessary, before the manager personally on pressing local problems.

The powers and duties of Callan Town Commissioners are exercised by the Kilkenny County Council and it is the duty of the county manager to carry out the executive functions of the county council acting as town commissioners. I am in communication with the manager regarding attendance at Callan at specified times.
