Vol. 96 No. 10

Ceisteanna.—Questions. Oral Answers. - The Arterial Drainage Act.

asked the Minister for Finance if he will state when he proposes to fix the appointed date for the coming into operation of the Arterial Drainage Act; and if he will make a statement on the matter.

It is proposed to fix the appointed day for a date prior to the 1st April next.

May I ask the Parliamentary Secretary if it would be possible to have the appointed date fixed before the date arranged by a drainage authority, such as the Barrow Drainage Board, for the striking of the special rate for 1945? What I mean is that, if the appointed date could be before that date, the special rate would not have to be struck for 1945.

I cannot see the point of the Deputy's supplementary question, but I will have the matter examined.
