Vol. 96 No. 24

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Compliance with Wage Orders.

asked the Minister for Agriculture if he will state for each of the years 1937 to 1944, inclusive, (a) the total number of inspections made by inspectors under the Agricultural Wages Act, 1936; (b) the number of breaches of the Wage Orders of the Agricultural Wages Board recorded in his Department; (c) the number of cases in which legal proceedings were taken to enforce the provisions of such Wage Orders, and (d) the number of convictions obtained and the the total amount of fines imposed.

I have obtained from the Agricultural Wages Board the particulars asked for by the Deputy. As these particulars are in the form of a tabular statement I am arranging to have them circulated in the Official Report.

The statement is as follows:—

Year (or period) ending

Number of Inspections made by Agricultural Wages Inspectors

Number of breaches of the Wages Orders recorded by the Board

Number of cases in which summary proceedings were taken
