Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Hackney Licences for Ex-Army Men.

asked the Minister for Industry and Commerce if he will state how many ex-members of the Defence Forces were granted petrol allowances, at the hackney rates, since 11th May, 1945; and how many such licences were granted to others who were engaged in hackney business (1) on the 1st January, 1941, and (2) prior to the 1st January, 1941.

The answer to the first part of the Deputy's question is 129 for hackneys and 40 for taxis. The answer to (1) in the second part of the Deputy's question is 12 for hackneys and four for taxis. The answer to (2) in the same part of the question is nil.
