Vol. 101 No. 19

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Cork Petrol Application.

asked the Minister for Industry and Commerce whether he is prepared to grant a special allocation of petrol to John Ahearn, of Fanish, Killeagh, County Cork, for his lorries, ZB 4026 and ZB 1151, as he has secured the contract for the supply of gravel to the new factory at present being erected at Youghal, County Cork, and the present allocation of petrol to him is insufficient to enable him to deliver the quantity of gravel required each week.

According to the information available in my Department, motor vehicle ZB 4026 is not registered in the name of Mr. Ahearn.

I have no reason to believe that existing transport facilities in the area are insufficient to ensure the delivery of the quantity of gravel required. In present circumstances, I am not prepared to grant a special allocation of petrol to Mr. Ahearn for the purpose in question.
