Vol. 102 No. 9

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Dublin Telephone Exchange.

asked the Minister for Posts and Telegraphs if he is now in a position to state when tenders will be invited for the erection of the proposed new telephone exchange at St. Andrew Street, Dublin.

The preparatory work in connection with the new building proposed to be erected at St. Andrew Street, Dublin, is not yet concluded, but I expect, provided nothing unforeseen occurs, that actual building operations on the site will commence in about 12 months' time.

In view of the Minister's reply to question No. 44 to-day, will he say if steps will be taken in the near future to provide an up-to-date exchange for telephone business in Dublin?

Yes, that is our intention.

You have been saying that for the last 12 years.

The Minister is full of good intentions.

The Deputy seems to have forgotten the emergency.

That blessed emergency!

The Minister seems to have forgotten the telephone exchange.
