Vol. 102 No. 9

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Acquisition of County Cork Holding.

asked the Minister for Lands if it has been brought to his notice that William Riordan was evicted from his holding at Ardnaturrish, Bantry, County Cork, in the early eighties for non-payment of one year's rent; that, as a consequence, a local agitation for the reinstatement of the tenant started, for participation in which the late Mr. T.M. Healy, M.P., served a term of imprisonment; that the holding (estate of K. Tobin, Record No. U.9679) has been derelict for many years, during which the daughters of the evicted tenant, Mrs. Hourihan and Mrs. Cahalane, have put forward claims for the holding; and if the Land Commission will now acquire the holding for the prior purpose of reinstating William Riordan's daughters thereon.

The Land Commission have under consideration the question of the acquisition of lands at Ardnaturrish More, Bantry, County Cork, on the estate of Kate Tobin, Record No. U.9679, and the application of the representatives of William Riordan, for an allotment, has been noted for consideration in the event of the lands being acquired.
