Vol. 102 No. 9

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - County Waterford Lands.

asked the Minister for Lands if he will state, in relation to County Waterford, the number of estates, and the area of each such estate held by the Land Commission for subdivision; the number of estates and the areas of such estates offered to the Land Commission; and the number of estates likely to be taken over by the Land Commission for subdivision.

Mr. Boland

There is at present on hands for allotment in County Waterford a residue of 55 acres of the townland of Glennawillin from one estate, and also an area of 67 acres recently vacated by a migrant.

The Land Commission have had offers of some 12 estates in that county comprising 2,290 acres, but they are unable to give any estimate of the proportion of such area, or of further areas on other estates inspected by them, which it may ultimately be found necessary and feasible to acquire.

asked the Minister for Lands if he will state when it is proposed, by his Department, to appoint or to select tenants for lands held by the Land Commission for subdivision in County Waterford.

Mr. Boland

Lands on hand in County Waterford will be allotted at the earliest possible moment. The Land Commission is not in a position to fix dates in such cases.
