asked the Minister for Lands if he will state: (a) the amount spent on land purchased for reallotment for the year ended 31st December, 1946; (b) the total amount paid in salaries to officials (exclusive of labourers) of his Department for the same period; and (c) the number of tenants migrated from County Mayo, during each of the years 1935 to 1946 inclusive.

Particulars in the exact form requested could not be made available without considerable labour but perhaps the following will suffice for the Deputy's purpose:—
(a) The purchase price of untenanted land acquired during the year ended 31st March, 1947, together with the purchase price of holdings resumed during the same period totalled £30,364. (b) The total salaries paid to officials of my Department (excluding labourers, gangers and other out-door subordinate employees of the Land Commission and also excluding the staff of Serbhísí na Gaeltachta and the Forestry Division) for the year ended 31st March, 1947, amounted to £402,640 13s. 1d. (c) The reply to this part of the question is in the form of a tabular statement which will be circulated in the Official Report.
