Vol. 107 No. 1

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Delaney Estate (Leix).

asked the Minister for Lands if he is aware that the Delaney estate, Ballylehane, Ballylinan, Leix, comprising 92 acres 3 roods 30 perches, in the baronies of Slievemargy and Ballyadams, has been offered for sale by the owner; and whether, in view of the congested state of the locality and the large number of smallholders, cottage tenants, old I.R.A. men, deserving farmers' sons and landless men in the area, he will direct the Land Commission to acquire these lands, to inspect them at an early date, and to prepare a scheme for division.

The question appears to refer to the holding of Harrict E. Delaney on the Coote Estate, Record No. S.4130. There are no proceedings pending for resumption of this holding and it is not practicable at present to take action in the matter.
