Vol. 108 No. 2

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - County Kilkenny Auxiliary Postman.

asked the Minister for Posts and Telegraphs if he will state why Mr. Joseph Tyrrell, Kilmadum, Ballyfoyle, County Kilkenny, who was offered and accepted the position of temporary auxiliary postman at Ballyfoyle, was rejected for the permanent post of auxiliary postman at Ballyfoyle.

Mr. Tyrrell was employed in the post for just over a month as a purely temporary arrangement, pending a permanent appointment. The temporary nature of his employment was made clear to him when he was engaged.

For the permanent appointment, four candidates, including Mr. Tyrrell, were nominated by the local employment exchange. The merits of each of the candidates were fully considered and the most suitable of them was selected for appointment.
