Vol. 110 No. 4

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - County Kildare Bridge.

asked the Minister for Local Government if he will state whether he is aware that considerable inconvenience and hardship is being caused to the people of the locality by the failure to erect a bridge recently collapsed at Clonkeen, Carbury, County Kildare; and whether he will, therefore, take urgent steps to have the plans for a new bridge passed and work commenced thereon.

The local authority have dealt with the planning and execution of this small work entirely on their own initiative. Plans were not, therefore, submitted to my Department for approval as is implied in the question. I am informed by the local authority that the carrying out of the work was delayed owing to a temporary shortage of cement, but that a supply has now been received. The work is in progress and will probably be completed soon.
