Vol. 110 No. 4

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - County Management Acts.

asked the Minister for Local Government if he will state whether he proposes to introduce legislation to amend the County Management Acts and to restore to local authorities the powers of which they were deprived by these Acts.

Mr. Murphy

I intend to give this matter early consideration. In the meantime, I am examining the feasibility of transferring to the elected members of local authorities, where possible, certain powers previously exercised by them. My ultimate aim is the amendment of the County Management Acts, so as to restore to local representatives as full a measure of power as the circumstances demand.
