Vol. 110 No. 5

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Dublin Garda Duties.

Mr. Byrne

asked the Minister for Justice if he is aware of the dissatisfaction which exists among members of the Garda Síochána in Dublin, owing to the new hours of work which allow them no home life, and if he will hold an investigation into the conditions of duty and working hours recently put into operation.

I assume the Deputy is referring to the new patrol arrangements which were introduced in the Dublin Metropolitan Area in September last. Discussions in regard to these arrangements are in progress between the Commissioner and the Garda Representative Body, and I do not think that it would be proper for me to intervene at this stage.
