Vol. 110 No. 9

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Éire's Economic Needs.

asked the Taoiseach if he will consider the setting up of a commission, or utilise such other means as may be suitable, to investigate and tabulate the economic needs of the country for the next ten years with a view to fixing a target in that period for production both for home needs and exports and laying down any directions that may be necessary for the better achievement of these targets; and if he will further take such steps as may be necessary to relate the issue of money by the banks to the economic production of the country with a view to stabilisation of prices during the period envisaged.

Shortly after the formation of the Government an Economic Committee of the Cabinet was set up to examine and review the economic position of the country generally. I can assure the Deputy that this Committee will give particular attention to the economic problems to which his question refers.

What about the ten years?
