Vol. 110 No. 11

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Cross-Channel Services.

asked the Minister for Industry and Commerce whether, in view of the very large number of passengers entering and leaving the State through Dun Laoghaire during the holiday season, he will make representations to Córas Iompair Éireann and the British railways for increased services, and also direct the Office of Public Works to have more adequate and proper facilities made available to such travellers at Dun Laoghaire Pier.

I understand that additional steamer services will be provided from mid-May to the end of September and that Córas Iompair Éireann will provide trains to meet these services.

Certain minor improvements, including the provision of extra sanitary facilities, are under consideration by the Commissioners of Public Works, but the extent to which the amenities of the existing pier can be improved is limited by considerations of available space.
