Vol. 110 No. 13

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - County Meath Estate.

asked the Minister for Lands if he will state the estates in County Meath acquired by his Department on which the holdings have been (a) wholly vested in the tenants; (b) partially vested, and (c) not yet vested; further, if he can indicate the estimated time which will be required to complete the work of vesting.

I assume that the Deputy has in mind the untenanted land acquired by the Land Commission under the Land Act, 1923, and subsequent Acts. Some 560 estates in County Meath have been distributed among 5,000 allottees of whom 1,700 have had their allotments vested in them.

The extraction of the information sought by the Deputy would entail an entirely disproportionate amount of research and I would ask him to accept an assurance that revesting in County Meath, as in other counties, is proceeding as rapidly as possible. In the whole country there are 37,000 allotments not yet vested and it is hoped to dispose of these at the rate of 6,000 per annum.
