Vol. 110 No. 13

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Galway-Clonsilla Railway Line.

asked the Minister for Industry and Commerce if he can state whether it is still the intention of Córas Iompair Éireann to restore the second line of railway between Galway and Clonsilla; and if he will say when it is expected this work will be undertaken.

My Department was never advised by Córas Iompair Éireann that it was their intention to restore the second line between Galway and Clonsilla. I have caused inquiries to be made from the company and I have been informed that it is not their intention to restore the second line of railway. The company say they are considering what steps they could take with a view to overcoming the present difficulties in the running of trains over this line.
