Vol. 110 No. 13

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Sale of Constellations.

asked the Minister for Industry and Commerce if he will state, in connection with the reported sale of Constellation aircraft by Aer Línte, Teoranta, to the British Overseas Airways Corporation: (1) the price paid by the British Overseas Airways Corporation; (2) whether the aircraft were offered to any other prospective purchasers; and, if so, particulars of any other offers received, and (3) whether any conditions were attached to the sale.

All those who were likely to be interested in the Constellation aircraft were advised that the company was ready to consider offers. The company accepted unconditionally the offer of the British Overseas Airways Corporation of £315,000 each for these aircraft. It would be a breach of confidence to disclose particulars of the other offers received by the company; but the Government are satisfied that the offer which was accepted was the best offer received.
