Vol. 111 No. 1

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - County Donegal Harbour Facilities.

Mr. Blaney

asked the Minister for Agriculture if he will state what steps, if any, are being taken by the Sea Fisheries Association to provide suitable harbour facilities at Green Castle, County Donegal, for the accommodation of fishermen operating around that district.

The harbour at Green Castle is in charge of the Donegal County Council and the provision of better facilities there is primarily a question for the council. It is not a matter within the purview of the Sea Fisheries Association. I have certain proposals for the dredging of the harbour bed and for ancillary work at the pier under consideration at present. After examination of these proposals I shall recommend such measure of State assistance towards the total outlay involved as may seem to be justified by the service to be thereby rendered to fishery interests.
