Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - County Meath Bog Work.

asked the Minister for Finance if he will state the amount of money expended in County Meath for the year ended 31st March, 1948, on bog development, bog drainage and bog roads, exclusive of such work carried out by Bord na Móna.

The expenditure by the State on bog development, bog drainage and bog roads in Meath for the year ended 31st March, 1948, amounted to £2,860, which included grants to the County Council for bogs under their control. I am informed that, in addition to this, the county council expended £2,960, charged against their turf production account, to be recouped either by the sale of the turf or by a Government subsidy.
