Vol. 111 No. 18

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - County Kerry Tourist Area.

asked the Minister for Industry and Commerce whether he is aware that representations have been submitted to the Irish Tourist Board urging them to provide improvements in the Rossbeigh tourist area, County Kerry, in view of the fact that no bathing boxes or other amenities have been provided there by the board, and if, in these circumstances, he will ensure that the primitive conditions which exist at this popular tourist centre are improved as soon as possible.

I am informed that the only representations addressed to the Irish Tourist Board concerned the improvement of the water supply in the Rossbeigh area, County Kerry. This is a matter for the Kerry Board of Health and Public Assistance. In accordance with the terms of Section 16 of the Tourist Traffic Act, 1939, any schemes submitted by the board must be certified by it to be profit-earning in character, but no such scheme has been prepared or is contemplated by the board in connection with Rossbeigh.
