Vol. 113 No. 9

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - River Fergus—Sluice Gates.

asked the Minister for Finance if it is still the intention to erect sluice gates in the River Fergus at Clarecastle; and, if so, when it is proposed to begin this very necessary work.

A decision in relation to the erection of the sluices at Clarecastle will be taken in accordance with the consent which is scheduled to the District of Fergus Drainage Act, 1943. The local conditions are under examination, but prolonged and careful study of the records will be necessary before a decision can be taken. In the circumstances it is not possible to say whether or when actual work will begin.

Is the Parliamentary Secretary in a position to say when the investigation which is at present being carried out by the Board of Works will be completed?

As soon as possible.
