Vol. 116 No. 2

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Proposed Building Scheme (Offaly).

asked the Minister for Local Government what progress has been made in carrying out the proposed building scheme at Clonbullogue, Offaly, and when work is likely to commence.

It was indicated, in replies to questions on the 3rd March and 27th April last that an appeal to the High Court was pending against the Offaly County Health District Labourers Order, 1947 (Part III) and that arbitration could not be proceeded with until the appeal was decided. In the reply to the latter question it was also stated that the owner of the site proposed for the housing scheme at Clonbullogue had refused consent to entry on the land in advance of the determination of compensation. The position is still as indicated in the previous replies. I understand that the appeal may be heard this month.

Would the Minister ensure that every effort will be made to wind this thing up as quickly as possible?

Yes, this month, I understand.
