asked the Minister for Finance if he will indicate (i) the number of applications received from West Cork under (a) rural improvement schemes, and (b) minor employment schemes; (ii) the number inspected; and (iii) the number it is proposed to deal with this year.
Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - West Cork—Applications for Schemes.
So far as rural improvements schemes are concerned, it is not clear whether the Deputy is referring to the number of applications, etc., dealt with since the inception of the scheme in 1943. I may state, however, that the figures for the financial year ending 31st March, 1949, are as follows:—
Applications Received |
Applications Inspected |
Number Sanctioned |
35 |
35 |
27—£2,776 |
Records are not kept in such a manner as to enable information to be given in respect of particular areas and particular periods of time, of the numbers of applications received for minor employment schemes and of the number of inspections made. It may, however, help the Deputy if I inform him that in the financial year ended 31st March last, 30 minor employment schemes were sanctioned for West Cork, representing an expenditure of £3,175.
It is expected that the expenditure during the current financial year in respect of both the rural improvements and minor employment schemes will be approximately the same as in 1948-49.
