Vol. 117 No. 2

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Agricultural Consultative Council.

asked the Minister for Agriculture if he will state whether the Agricultural Consultative Council is still in existence and the date on which the last meeting of the council was held.

The Agricultural Production Consultative Council is still in existence. The last meeting of the council was held in January, 1946.

Does the Minister not consider it desirable to have this council summoned to discuss with him matters of agricultural policy?

Might I ask why does the Minister think it inadvisable for him to consult with the representatives of the farming community on agricultural matters?

The Deputy, apparently, overlooks the fact that I spend a good deal of my time travelling about the country, at the kind invitation of the county committees of agriculture, to meet just the gentlemen referred to by the Deputy. The Deputy's question really is about the Agricultural Consultative Council.

May I ask the Minister if it is his intention to keep this council in existence, and if he does not propose to consult it will he not dissolve it?

Sin, mar a deirtheá, ceist eile.
