Vol. 117 No. 6

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Housing Workers in North Cork.

asked the Minister for Local Government whether he will state (i) how many workers are engaged in the building of county council houses in North Cork at the moment, and (ii) how many were employed in June, 1947, and June, 1948.

According to the latest information available in my Department, 291 men were employed in the building of county council houses in North Cork at the end of last month. No employment on such work was afforded in June, 1947, in this area, while the number of men so employed in June, 1948, was 149.

Will the Minister agree that it might also impress Deputy Keane's credulous supporters if he were given the figures for 1945, the year the war ended?

It might also be a matter of information if I mentioned that Deputy Keane is well able to look after his own constituency without any assistance from Deputy Lynch, the glamour boy of the Fianna Fáil Party.
