Vol. 118 No. 7

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Abbeyfeale Housing.

asked the Minister for Local Government if he has yet sanctioned the erection of 12 local authority houses in Abbeyfeale, County Limerick; and, if so, on what date; further, if he will state the cause of the delay in starting the building work, and if he is satisfied that 12 houses are adequate.

My sanction to the acceptance of a tender for the erection of 12 houses in Abbeyfeale has not yet been sought. I understand, however, that the Limerick County Council have recently considered tenders for this scheme, and that a proposal to accept a tender is being submitted to me.

Having regard to the volume of housing work put in hands by the council this year I am satisfied that there was no avoidable delay in pushing ahead with this scheme. I understand that the proposed scheme will meet fully the housing needs of this town as estimated by the local authority.
