Vol. 118 No. 11

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Collapse of Kerry Bridge.

asked the Minister for Local Government whether he is aware that the Giddagh Bridge on the main Beaufort-Killorglin road, County Kerry, collapsed as far back as December, 1948, and that nothing so far appears to have been done by the responsible local authority to expedite the erection of the urgently required new bridge; and, if so, whether he will take steps to ensure that the work is put in hands at once.

The erection of the bridge in question is a matter for the Kerry County Council. I understand that preliminary drawings and an estimate, prepared by a consulting engineer, were before the council at a recent meeting and were approved of by them. I will have the Deputy's representations conveyed to the local authority.
