Vol. 118 No. 12

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Tipperary Postal Deliveries.

asked the Minister for Posts and Telegraphs whether he is aware that there are only three postal deliveries per week to the townlands of Ballymacadam and Loughlohera, Cahir, County Tipperary, although the postman from Cahir passes through these townlands daily when delivering to adjoining townlands; and, if so, whether he will arrange to provide a daily delivery to these areas.

Parts of the townlands of Ballymacadam and Loughlohera are afforded daily deliveries while other parts are delivered on four days a week only. It would not be practicable to afford a daily delivery to all parts owing to the additional expenditure which would be entailed, particularly as the existing services are being maintained at a loss.

I will have the matter re-examined when the Cahir district is being surveyed in connection with the general reorganisation of postal services, at present in hands.
