Vol. 118 No. 12

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Aran Potato Crop.

asked the Minister for Agriculture whether he is aware that the potato crop in the Aran Islands is unusually poor this year, and that there will be a need for larger quantities of seed potatoes from outside sources than are normally required; and, if so, whether he will state if suitable provision will be made in the matter.

I am aware that, in consequence of the unusually dry season, the yield from the potato crop on the Aran Islands is below average. Special consideration will be given to the islands when seed potatoes are being distributed in the coming spring under the seed distribution scheme for congested districts.
