Vol. 118 No. 12

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Acquisition of County Monaghan Lands.

asked the Minister for Lands if he will state what progress has been made by the Land Commission towards acquiring the lands of Tullyallen, Halftate, and Carrickasedoge, on the Brownlow estate, County Monaghan, and whether, in view of the large number of uneconomic holdings in the area, he will give an assurance that applications for land from outside the area will be considered only after the needs of the people of the district are first satisfied.

An order for resumption has been made in respect of these lands. The assurance asked for in the latter part of the Deputy's question is unnecessary as claims of local deserving uneconomic holders are always considered, as such is Government policy.
