Vol. 118 No. 13

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - New Hospitals and Institutions.

asked the Minister for Health if he will state the location and description of new hospital and institutional projects, excluding improvements to existing premises, submitted to him, for which grants have been or are being sought, distinguishing between (a) applications granted; (b) applications granted and constructional or development work proceeding; (c) applications under active consideration, and (d) applications deferred or rejected indefinitely or temporarily.

I am in doubt as to the precise scope of the information requested by the Deputy, but I have had the reply prepared on the basis of all the projects which were outstanding when I took up office in February, 1948, together with projects initiated later, as having regard to the number of proposals which were in the Department (in some of which grants had been promised) it was necessary to evolve a programme which could be pursued energetically and carried out within a reasonable period.

With your permission, a Chinn Chomhairle, I will circulate particulars for inclusion in the Official Report.
