Vol. 119 No. 13

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Export of Salmon.

asked the Minister for Agriculture whether, in connection with the proposed alteration in the present arrangements whereby the export of salmon to Britain is restricted to a small number of licensed exporters and their sub-exporters, he will arrange for a reversion to the former system whereby small salmon buyers were granted export licences.

The existing arrangement governing the export of salmon will come to an end on the 15th April, and while I am not yet in a position to announce in detail the revised arrangements, I can say that the issue of an export licence will not be dependent on the volume of the exporter's trade.
