It would not be feasible to give precise figures for the calendar year 1949, as the rationing periods do not correspond with the calendar year. Covering the period 29th January, 1949, to 27th January, 1950, licences were issued to hotels and other catering establishments for the purchase of 9,265 cwts. of butter at the non-subsidised price of 3/5 per lb.
