Vol. 120 No. 14

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Rearrangement of Holdings.

asked the Minister for Lands whether he is aware that Mr. Michael P. Bowler, Goulane East, Lispole, County Kerry, and others in the same locality, have applied for an exchange of holdings, and whether he will state the cause of the delay on the part of the Land Commission in coming to a decision in these cases.

asked the Minister for Lands whether he is aware that Mr. Thomas O'Sullivan, Goulane Ard, Lispole, County Kerry, and other people in the same locality, applied for grants under the Housing (Gaeltacht) Acts and that consideration of their applications has been deferred pending the completion of a land rearrangement scheme which the Land Commission have on hands, and whether he is in a position to state when the scheme will be carried out so that housing grants will be payable to applicants in that Gaeltacht area.

With the permission of the Leas-Cheann Comhairle, I will take together Questions Nos. 13 and 14.

The Land Commission propose to rearrange the holdings in the Lispole area but the completion of a rearrangement scheme must await the migration of some tenants out of the district. Several applications for migration have been received and will be finally dealt with when suitable lands become available. Meanwhile it is necessary to defer applications for housing grants where the erection of dwellings at this stage would conflict with the proposed rearrangement.
