Vol. 121 No. 5

Ceisteanna — Questions. Oral Answers. - Electricity for West Connemara.

asked the Minister for Industry and Commerce if he can state how far the hydrographic survey in West Connemara has progressed; and how soon Bord Sólathair an Leictreachais will be in a position to decide whether there is sufficient potential power there to provide the entire district with electricity.

I am informed by the Electricity Supply Board that a preliminary survey of the rivers in West Connemara has been carried out. The potential water power in this area is small and would not be adequate to provide economically a reliable supply of electricity for the entire district.
