Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Cost of Petrol.

asked the Taoiseach if he will state the landed cost of petrol per gallon imported from (a) sterling and (b) dollar areas and the quantities imported in each case during each of the years 1948-49 and 1949-50.

Imports of motor spirit from the sterling area in the years ended 31st March, 1949 and 1950, amounted to 9,150,847 gallons and 24,950,034 gallons at an average price (c.i.f.) of 10½d. per gallon in both cases; the corresponding figures as regards imports from the dollar area are 9,415,292 gallons and 12,338,921 gallons at average prices (c.i.f.) of 1/1½ and 1/2 per gallon respectively.
