Vol. 122 No. 1

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - County Sligo Bog Development.

asked the Minister for Lands whether he is aware that bog development on the Cooper estate, Dromore West, County Sligo, has ceased for some time past and that this scheme had given good employment in the area; and, if so, if he will state the reason for the cessation of work and give an undertaking that work will be resumed in the immediate future.

The preliminary work on this bog has been completed and proposals for more extensive improvement works are under consideration.

Is the Minister aware that this scheme has been under consideration for seven years? Does he not think it time that the Land Commission had prepared plans?

The Deputy is not quite correct. The first part of the development scheme has only just come to an end and the second phase which is more extensive——

Seven years.

When did the first phase finish? This spring.
