Vol. 126 No. 2

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Cork Dockers and Unemployment Benefit.

asked the Minister for Social Welfare if he will state the number of dockers who signed each day of each week at the Cork Labour Exchange for unemployment benefit during the past six months.

Local officers are not required to keep records from which information of the type required by the Deputy could be compiled. There are, however, returns of the number of dockers on the live register of each local office on every Saturday. With your permission, a Chinn Chomhairle, I am circulating with the Official Report these weekly figures in respect of the Cork Employment Exchange for the six months ended the 9th June, 1951.

Following is the information:—

NUMBERS of men classified as "dock labourer, stevedore" registered at Cork Employment Exchange on each Saturday in the six months ended 9th June, 1951.
