I am not yet in a position to state when a mother and child health service scheme will be brought into operation. I have the matter under consideration and I have also invited the Irish Medical Association to submit its recommendations for a mother and child service in accordance with the general intentions of the 1947 Health Act and with the provisions of the Constitution and its social directives.
