Vol. 126 No. 7

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Clerical Officers' Examination.

asked the Minister for Social Welfare if he will state the number of successful applicants for the confined clerical officers' examination (December, 1950) who will be called for permanent employment in his Department.

The regulations for the examination referred to by the Deputy provided for the appointment of not less than ten candidates to posts as clerical officer should so many candidates be found qualified. The first ten successful candidates are in course of being appointed clerical officers by the Civil Service Commissioners and assigned to my Department. I cannot state at this stage whether any further candidates are likely to be appointed.

Can the Minister indicate whether others than the ten who are being appointed will be given permanent employment?

I said I was not in a position to say.
