Vol. 127 No. 2

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Irish Naval Service.

asked the Minister for Defence if he will state who arranges the cruises of ships of the Irish Naval Service and if it is customary for these ships to be at sea at week-ends while in home waters.

Cruises in home waters are mainly connected with fishery protection duties combined with naval training requirements and are arranged by the Director, Naval Service, in accordance with approved policy. The timing and duration of any such cruise depend upon the exigencies of the service.
