Vol. 127 No. 4

Questions— Written Answers. - House Purchase Scheme.

asked the Minister for Local Government if he will state the reason for the failure to reply to the application sent in January last from 25 tenants at Morrison Terrace, Ballina, to purchase their houses, in view of the fact that this purchase scheme was passed by the previous Government in November, 1950.

The proposed sale of the houses referred to by the Deputy is being examined both as to the likelihood of the prospective purchasers to continue in occupation of the houses and as part of the general question of the sale of local authority houses. When this examination has been completed, my decision will issue without delay.
