Vol. 127 No. 4

Questions— Written Answers. - Shipbuilding Industry.

asked the Minister for Agriculture if it is the policy of his Department to build boats required by the Irish Sea Fisheries Association in Irish shipyards; and, if so, if he will, where possible, have these contracts placed so as to maintain full and equitable employment among our shipwrights in all yards.

Mr. Walsh

My Department does not place orders for fishing boats. The Irish Sea Fisheries Association make their own arrangements in that regard. I understand that it is the policy of the committee of management of the association to place as many orders as possible with boat-builders in the State.
