Vol. 127 No. 5

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Dublin Corporation Employment.

asked the Minister for Local Government if he will state the number of employees disemployed since the 20th October, 1951, by the Corporation of Dublin in each of the following departments: (a) cleansing, (b) paving, (c) housing maintenance, (d) sewers, and (e) on housing sites development work.

I have been informed by the Dublin Corporation that the numbers are: cleansing, none; paving, 24; housing maintenance, four; sewers, one, and housing sites development work, 12. Of the 24 men disemployed in the paving department 18 were employed specifically for clamping turf and were disemployed when clamping operations were completed. Of the 12 men who lost their employment on housing sites development work, three were subsequently re-employed in other departments of the corporation.
